Javier Sanz Pascual

Born in Madrid, Javier Sanz Pascual began playing the bassoon at the age of seven, studying with Fernando Sánchez at the conservatoire of Majadahonda. In 2020, he was admitted to the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía to study with Gustavo Núñez and Francisco Alonso, where he received the diploma for the most outstanding student in 2021 and 2024. 

In 2023, Javier won the first prize at the Norma Hooks Young Artist Bassoon Competition, then held in Thailand. 

As an orchestral musician he has worked with conductors such as Jakub Hrůša (with the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester), Juanjo Mena, Pablo Heras-Casado, David Afkham, András Schiff and Andrés Orozco-Estrada, the latter during the Encuentro de Música y Academia de Santander. In 2024, he was admitted to the National Youth Orchestra of Spain (JONDE). In addition, he has performed with the RTVE Symphony Orchestra and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid.
