Benjamin Peled
In addition to performing as a guest concertmaster for the Staatskapelle Berlin and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, both under the baton of Daniel Barenboim, Benjamin Peled has subbed as a concertmaster for the Houston and Vancouver symphony orchestras. Other guest appearances have included the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
Peled is a founding member of the award-winning, Amsterdam-based Alma Quartet, whose debut album of the complete string quartets of Erwin Schulhoff was received with critical international acclaim, including being named to the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik Bestenlist. He has had many opportunities to perform as a chamber music partner with artists such as Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Menahem Pressler, Denis Kozhukhin, Baiba Skride, Guy Braunstein, and Kolja Blacher, as well as with members of the Belcea and Michelangelo String Quartets.
Peled has appeared in performance throughout North America, Europe, and Asia, including in the Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival, Sociedad Filarmónica de Bilbao, Tonhalle Düsseldorf, Seoul Arts Center and the Hamarikyu-Asahi Hall in Tokyo.
He completed a Bachelor and Master of Music at the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM), where he was a student of Paul Kantor and William Preucil, respectively.
Benjamin Peled plays on a violin by J.B. Vuillaume, which was purchased by the Foundation Concertgebouworkest from the legacy of Viktor Libermann. Previously, this violin was played by Marijn Mijnders.
