Junko Naito
After her education at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, the Japanese violin player Junko Naito came to the Netherlands in 1996 to study at the Utrecht Conservatory with Viktor Liberman. She won the O.E.K. soloist prize in Japan in 1997 and made her début in the prestigious Suntory Hall in Tokyo.
Naito joined the first violin section of the Concertgebouw Orchestra in December 2002.
As a soloist, she has performed with such conductors as Hiroyuki Iwaki, having given numerous performances of classical and modern repertoire in Japan and Germany. In September 2014, she won the Iwaki Award, a prize for outstanding musicians, established in 2007 in commemoration of Hiroyuki Iwaki.
