Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra starts partnership with Apple
as part of the launch of Apple Music Classical, the new streaming music app specifically designed for classical music
On 28 March, as part of the Apple Music subscription, Apple will launch its own app for classical music only: Apple Music Classical. The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra is proud to partner with Apple during the first year of this new streaming service.
Within this collaboration, twelve previously unreleased recordings by the Concertgebouw Orchestra will be released exclusively on Apple Music Classical in high-resolution stereo and Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos throughout the course of the year. In addition, more than 50 existing recordings from our RCO Live label will be remastered and made available digitally in Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos for the first time. Moreover, the new releases from the orchestra's label will be pre-released on Apple Music Classical.
The catalogue of the Concertgebouw Orchestra, including these exclusive recordings, will be featured in a dedicated page on Apple Music. The orchestra will also join Apple Music as a curator, and our fans will be able to discover more about our unique sound and history through exclusive playlists which will be created and updated regularly in the coming months.
Apple Music Classical contains the largest classical music catalog in the world, including hundreds of recordings from the Concertgebouw Orchestra, in the highest audio quality: lossless up to 24 bit and Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos. This catalogue will now be easily searchable thanks to an engine built for classical music.
