The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra will be touring Japan and the Republic of Korea with conductor Fabio Luisi in November 2023. Pianist Yefim Bronfman joins the orchestra as the soloist in Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 2. In addition, the programmes will feature Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony, Weber's ‘Oberon’ Overture, Dvořák's 'New World Symphony' and Bizet's Symphony in C. The orchestra will perform at Kawasaki Symphony Hall (3 November), Nagoya's Aichi Prefectural Art Theater (4 November), Kyoto Concert Hall (5 November), both Suntory Hall and Bunkyo Civic Hall in Tokyo (7 and 9 November, respectively) and twice at Seoul's Lotte Concert Hall (11 and 12 November).

The tour is made possible in part thanks to KLM, who handle the transport of both the musicians and the instruments. In collaboration with KLM, the orchestra's brass players will give a freely accessible concert under the Tokyo Tower on 8 November at 12.30 p.m. local time. It gives the tour a festive touch. On 3 November, when the tour starts in Kawasaki, the Concertgebouw Orchestra will celebrate its 135th anniversary.

The tour will mark the Concertgebouw Orchestra's twentieth visit to Japan since the first in 1962, and the seventh to South Korea's capital Seoul, which the orchestra visited for the first time in 1977.
