Portrait video Jeroen Bal
Jeroen Bal is the Concertgebouw Orchestra’s regular pianist. Although the piano is not usually part of a symphony orchestra, many compositions call for a pianist – to play not only the piano, but the celesta as well. Watch the video portrait of Jeroen Bal.
As a pianist, you have nowhere to learn to play in an orchestra, to gain any experience. I just rolled into it, and had to figure it all out as I went along.
