School concerts

Children’s voices are echoing through the stairwells on Gabriël Metsustraat. It’s time again for the Concertgebouw Orchestra’s annual school concerts in the Amsterdamzaal. In six days, with three concerts a day, we’ll play for more than nine hundred children, attending schools in and outside of Amsterdam.

Our project for schools brings elementary school children directly into contact with classical music as well as with musicians from the orchestra. During the preparatory lessons in school, teachers make use of the apps specially developed for primary education. In the run-up to the actual concert, musicians bring their instruments into the classroom to meet the children.

About our education programme

Global partner ING provides the ‘Muziekbuzz’ to transport schoolchildren from outside Amsterdam into the city, removing what is a significant barrier for many schools.
