About this concert
The new Bijlmer Klassiek series kicks off on 22 October with The Extra Mile, a concert about how music and language can strengthen and enhance each other. Bassist Nicky Schwartz and clarinettist Olivier Patey of the Concertgebouw Orchestra are teaming up with spoken word artist Zaïre Krieger, piano students of the Davidsbündler Music Academy and violinist Diet Tilanus in poetic and compelling music by Johannes Brahms and Dmitry Shostakovich.
Poets and musicians are ambitious. After all, finding the best way to communicate their thoughts inevitably means going the extra mile. The composer Johannes Brahms, for instance, was never satisfied, always going back and revising his music. But what astonishing results!
The Bijlmer Klassiek series is organized in collaboration with the Bijlmer Parktheatre.
