Trevor Pinnock
Trevor Pinnock is an internationally acclaimed harpsichordist, conductor and chamber musician. As a pioneer in the field of authentic performance practice, he founded the English Concert in 1972, of which he was artistic director until 2003.
Pinnock has given solo concerts in the UK and Italy, and performed with the Freiburger Barockorchester to commemorate that ensemble’s twentieth anniversary. He founded the Brandenburg Ensemble on the occasion of his sixtieth birthday, with which he performed the Bach Brandenburg Concertos.
Pinnock has toured Europe with such groups as the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the Kammerakademie Potsdam. He has conducted the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Mozarteum Orchestra, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestra Mozart. He has led Handel’s Giulio Cesare at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
In 1992, Pinnock was awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
Since his first appearance with the Concertgebouw Orchestra in 2008, Pinnock has been a very regular guest conductor.
