Gemma Lee
Hailing from Sydney, Gemma Lee joined the first violin section of the Concertgebouw Orchestra in February 2025. Prior to this, she played in the first violin section of the Gewandhausorchester in Leipzig (in 2020 and in 2021-23) and the NDR Radiophilharmonie in Hanover (2023-24). She previously gained orchestral experience in the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Australian Chamber Orchestra and the NDR Radiophilharmonie, completing their respective development programmes.
Gemma Lee studied under Goetz Richter at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music where she held the Frank Hammond Merit Scholarship. Awarded the Marten Bequest Grant of the Australia Council for the Arts, she began her Master studies in Germany with Ulf Schneider at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, graduating in 2021. She has been further developing her artistic proficiency with Rudens Turku at the Stella Hochschule für Musik in Feldkirch, Austria.
Ms. Lee was a finalist in various competitions, including the Fine Music Young Virtuoso Award and the Kendall National Violin Competition (twice).
