Mirte de Kok
Mirte de Kok joined the Concertgebouw Orchestra in September 2005. After five years with the 2nd violin group, she joined the first violins.
She studied with Coosje Wijzenbeek, going on to enrol at the Utrecht Conservatory, where she studied with Chris Duindam. She completed her bachelor’s and master’s degree under the tutelage of Alexander Kerr at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. De Kok has participated in masterclasses with a number of leading musicians, including Heinz Oberdorfer, Rian de Waal, Natalia Morosowa and Bart Schneemann.
De Kok won the audience prize at the 1999 Princess Christina Competition and first prize at the 2004 Yamaha Music Foundation Europe competition.
She has served as principal violinist of the Camerata Antonio Lucio, a position she shared with Emmy Verhey in 2004.
Mirte de Kok is also a former member of the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and Holland Symfonia, and was principal violinist of the Utrecht Conservatory Symphony Orchestra.
Her CD Emotions by Mirte, recorded with the Beethoven Academy Orchestra Cracow under the direction of Alexander Geluk, was published in 2008. She subsequently gave performances with that orchestra in the Netherlands to promote the recording.
