Would you like to support our social ambitions?
Katinka Canté would be happy to discuss all the options with you.
Based in Amsterdam, the Concertgebouworkest has a global reach and is at the very heart of society with its projects for education, talent development and reaching the widest possible audience – all based on the very highest quality.
The Concertgebouworkest contributes to music education in schools with a creative, stimulating programme. As a partner to specialist and non-specialist teachers, the orchestra uses its expertise to enhance and enrich the development of children and young people. Making and hearing music, working with and listening to one another, being part of a whole – quality music education fosters valuable skills and brings fun into the classroom.
Through the Academy, the Concertgebouworkest promotes the development of top young European talent. This renowned educational institution is the Concertgebouworkest’s bridge between the conservatory and the professional music world. The programme produces outstanding musicians who are ready for a career in leading international symphony orchestras.
The Academy also serves as a pool from which the Concertgebouworkest itself can draw. The students are initiated to, and trained in the tradition of, the orchestra’s culture and master the very specific ensemble playing required, which involves taking responsibility, having confidence, listening to one another and taking risks.
Concertgebouworkest Young is the international youth orchestra of the Concertgebouworkest. Made up of young, talented musicians aged fourteen to seventeen from all over Europe, Young truly reflects the diversity of European society. The youth orchestra is primarily meant to showcase those with hidden talent – young musicians who could use a little extra support and who have lacked visibility in the orchestras of Europe.
The Concertgebouworkest wants to share the love of music with those who may not yet be familiar with, or have access to, the Concertgebouw. It does so via multiple annual projects. The orchestra recently performed in the main lobby of the Amsterdam University Medical Centre, gave a concert for Syrian refugees and presented its Opening Night 2021 to the general public on Dam Square.
Our social ambitions are supported by the orchestra’s donors.
