A sun-drenched summer with Mendelssohn’s ‘Italian’ Symphony
We are wishing everyone a very happy summer with Mendelssohn’s sunny ‘Italian’ Symphony conducted by Thomas Hengelbrock. Mendelssohn wrote his Fourth Symphony in 1833, when he was twenty-four, inspired by an extensive tour of Italy. The symphony reflects his love of the country and is a colourful representation of Italian culture and the Mediterranean landscape.
