The rich history of the orchestra, the excellence and devotion of its musicians and conductors, the important role the orchestra plays in the communities that it serves and in music education both locally and globally as well as its long-standing tradition of working with living composers make this one of the world’s most inspiring positions in the performing arts. I look forward to meeting the orchestra’s musicians, staff members, audiences and stakeholders in Amsterdam and abroad, and I am of course delighted at the prospect of working with Klaus Mäkelä as the orchestra's future Chief Conductor.’
