New in the Concertgebouw Orchestra

Since August, we’ve had two more young musicians in the ranks! Hani Song from Switzerland has joined the first violins, and cellist Yong-Jun Lee from South Korea is with the low strings.

Born in Switzerland, Hani Song has played the violin since the age of three. Having studied violin and piano at the Zurich conservatoire, she pursued her violin studies in Freiburg and at the Zürcher Hochschule der Kunste. She completed her master studies with Mi-Kyung Lee at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich. Among her former teachers were Andreas Janke, Prof. Jörg Hofmann and Philip Draganov and she attended masterclasses with such musicians as Christoph Poppen, Ana Chumachenko, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, and Julia Fischer.

Born in South Korea, Yong-Jun Lee began his musical education at age 7. After his studies at the Purcell School of Music with Pal Banda, he received a full scholarship to undertake his undergraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music where he studied with Mats Lidström. He then pursued his master’s degree with Stephan Forck at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin. Between 2022 and 2024, Yong-Jun Lee participated in the academy of the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig. He took masterclasses with Mario Brunello, Gary Hoffman, Steven Doane and Colin Carr.
