A day in the life of our tubaist Perry Hoogendijk
VIDEO - Exactly two years ago today we followed Perry for a day. Little did we know that the Concertgebouw Orchestra would be giving the final concert before the lockdown that night. And it just so happens that Tchaikovsky's Sixth Symphony was on the programme two years ago, just like this week!
What does a day in the life of a musician of the Concertgebouw Orchestra look like? Exactly two years ago we followed our tubaist Perry Hoogendijk with a camera to find that out.
First, Perry joins a rehearsal at the Concertgebouw of Tchaikovsky’s Sixth Symphony. After lunch he went to the Conservatory of Amsterdam to give Academist of the Concertgebouw Orchestra Alberto Rodríguez Rodríguez some tips for his upcoming audition.
Perry’s student Néstor Martínez Jara is experimenting with a loop station. In the afternoon Perry visits a euphonium masterclass by Steven Mead at the Buffet Crampon Showroom in Amsterdam. He ends his day with a concert at the Concertgebouw.
