Cord Koss
Born in Berlin in 1999, Cord Koss received his first violin lessons at the age of four. He is currently studying with Sophia Jaffé at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt, having received further musical impulses from masterclasses by musicians such as Nora Chastain and Stephan Picard.
Koss was a prize winner at several competitions, including the third prize at the Valsesia Musica International Violin Competition and several prizes at Jugend Musiziert.
His music activities have taken him to major concert halls, such as the Berliner Philharmonie and the Auditorio Nacional de Música, the Philharmonie de Paris and the Concertgebouw in Bruges. He made his debut as a soloist in Italy with the Orchestra Antonio Vivaldi.
As a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra he perfomed under conductors such as Iván Fischer and Elim Chan. His interest in historical performance practice resulted in baroque violin studies with Petra Müllejans and Mayumi Hirasaki since 2020, and several projects with the Freiburger Barockorchester.
He is a scholarship holder of Live Music Now, founded by Yehudi Menuhin, and won a scholarship for an instrument by master violin maker Thomas van der Heyd.
