Gerard Sánchez Safont
Born in La Vall d’Uixó, Spain, Gerard Sánchez took his first French horn lessons in the wind band’s school of his hometown when he was eight years old. In 2020 he graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (Barcelona), and proceed to study for his master’s with Jose Vicente Castelló at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg.
During his studies he attended masterclasses by Eric Terwilliger, Stefan Dohr, Frøydis Ree Wekre, Radovan Vlatković, Juan Manuel Gómez and Matías Piñeira.
Sánchez has played in youth orchestras such as the European Union Youth Orchestra, the Junge Deutsche Philarmonie and the Gustav Mahler Academy Orchestra. He also took part in the academy programme of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra in 2017 and 2019.
