Tobias Staub
Tobias Staub was born in Winterthur, Switzerland and started his first violin lessons with Franziska Pfenninger. He continued his musical education with Jens Lohmann in Zurich. In 2016, he started his bachelor's studies in Lucerne with Igor Karsko and followed up with a master’s degree at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, where his teacher was Annelie Gahl.
Since the start of his studies Tobias’s focus has been on leading positions, starting with four years as concertmaster in the Youth Symphony Orchestra Zurich under David Bruchez. He served as either concertmaster or section leader in orchestras such as the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra, the Philharmonie Salzburg, and the Chamber Philharmonic Spirit of Europe. In 2022, Tobias joined the academy of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.
As a soloist, Tobias has performed with the Cosmic Percussion Ensemble, Stadtorchester Frauenfeld, the Masters Orchestra in Verona, the Orchester Kriens-Horw, and Stringendo Zurich.
Tobias took masterclasses with such musicians as Ingolf Turban, Klaidi Sahatçi, Lawrence Power, Clive Brown, Lahav Shani, and Esther Hoppe.
