The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra is playing Anton Bruckner’s symphonies from 1 through 9 over the course of a year and a half. As part of this Bruckner cycle, we’re making a series of podcasts called Negen gezichten van Bruckner. Why are these symphonies so legendary? And why do they arouse so much emotion?
Jet Berkhout discusses the symphonies with Bruckner expert Axel Meijer and several musicians form the Concertgebouw Orchestra. Each episode focuses on one of the symphonies, using fragments of the music to explain and explore the main high points in each symphony.
