Pietro Silvestri

Pietro Silvestri started playing the cello at the age of five. Studying with Angelo Zanin, he obtained his bachelor’s degree at the Conservatorio Benedetto Marcello in Venice, and recently graduated at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, Switzerland. He took part in masterclasses and has played with renowned cellists such as Antonio Meneses, Giovanni Sollima, Mario Brunello, Guy Johnson, David Geringas, Asier Polo, Giovanni Gnocchi and Stefano Cerrato.  

Pietro often performed as principal cello at Venice’s opera house La Fenice opera house, Venice, where he also performed chamber music and recitals.  

Since 2021, Pietro has served as principal cellist of European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO), performing in prestigious halls across Europe and collaborating with such soloists as Alban Gerhardt, Nicolas Altstaedt, Renaud Capuçon and Julia Fischer, and conductors such as Gianandrea Noseda, Antonio Pappano and Iván Fischer.  

With pianist Tommaso Boggian he forms the Duo del Giglio, which has performed throughout Italy.
