Francisca Barradas Vaz Galante
Francisca Barradas Vaz Galante began her viola studies at the age of six when she joined Isabel Pimentel’s class at the music school of the conservatoire in Lisbon. She graduated at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam under the guidance of Nobuko Imai and Francien Schatborn, and will pursue her master studies in Amsterdam as well. In the summer of 2024 she participated in the Seiji Ozawa Academy in Switzerland.
Francisca won many competitions, including first prizes at the Vasco Barbosa string competition (2021), the Britten Concours (2021), Prémio Ilda Moura (2019), the national competition of Montijo (2018) and the IMKA Competition (2017). The Otilka Quartet, of which Francisca is a member, won second prize in the 2024 Triomphe de L’Art competition in Brussels.
Francisca has performed in several youth orchestras. In 2019, she participated as co-principal viola in the first edition of Concertgebouworkest Young. She has been a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra since 2023.
