Dominic Seldis
Dominic Seldis studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Robin McGee and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Klaus Stoll. Before joining the Concertgebouworkest in 2008, he was a member of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
As a concerto soloist he has performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, The Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra amongst others.
In addition to playing in the orchestra, Seldis is a member of the John Wilson Orchestra, gives solo recitals and concerts, and performs chamber music.
He also makes regular appearances on Dutch and British television programmes about music.
Dominic Seldis is a professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London and gives masterclasses in many countries.
Dominic has a great passion for pop and jazz music. He has played on many film and TV soundtracks. and performed and recorded with various pop musicians (including Tina Turner, Rod Stewart, Seal, Spice Girls, Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey, Wouter Hamel, Giovanca) and is in growing demand as an arranger and musical director. He has his own pop orchestra The Love Philharmonic which is made up of musicians mainly from the Concertgebouworkest.
In 2015 Dominic Seldis was able to take an Italian bass on loan, built by Vincenzo Panormo (ca. 1810). This instrument could be purchased thanks to the Swiss Friends and Foundation Concertgebouworkest.
