Rob Dirksen
Rob Dirksen studied at the conservatories of Utrecht and Rotterdam. While still a student, he was appointed principal bassist with the Arnhem Philharmonic Orchestra, a post he would hold for ten years.
Dirksen joined the Concertgebouworkest in August 2002, and is regular bassist with the Nieuw Ensemble. He frequently performs with various other ensembles, including Asko|Schoenberg and Amsterdam Sinfonietta. He teaches bass at the Fontys Conservatory in Tilburg.
During a tour in the USA Rob Dirksen found his current bass, built by G. Pedrazzini in approximately 1907. This bass was bought for him by Foundation Concertgebouworkest and geven to him on loan.
