Arndt Auhagen
Arndt Auhagen has been second violinist of the Concertgebouw Orchestra since 2000. He began studying the violin at the age of six with Erika Daams at the Clara Schumann Musikschule in his native city, Düsseldorf. He later took lessons with Alexi Burduli, a former student of David Oistrach’s.
Auhagen went on to study violin at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg with Mark Lubotsky. In addition, he took lessons with Charles-André Linale, then first violinist of the Orpheus Quartet. He has taken part in masterclasses with Yfrah Neaman, Felix Andrievski, Liane Issakadze, Emile Cantor and members of the Amadeus and Borodin Quartets.
The violinist has won prizes at various competitions, including Jugend Musiziert, the Hausmann Musikwettbewerb and the Elise Meyer Stiftung competition.
Auhagen regularly gives solo and chamber performances with various ensembles. He was primarius of the Egmont Quartet, which he formed with three colleagues from the Concertgebouw Orchestra.
