José Sogorb Jover
Born in 1979 in Pinoso (Alicante, Spain), José Luis Sogorb Jover began his horn studies with Enrique Rodilla. After studying with Vicente Navarro at the conservatory of Alicante, he went on to study with Herman Jeurissen at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, where he finished both his Bachelor and Master diplomas with honours.
Having served as a member of the Arnhem Philharmonic Orchestra for seven years, José Sogorb Jover was appointed principal hornist at the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, until he joined the Concertgebouworkest in August 2016.
He has been playing as a substitute in orchestras from all over Europe, working with such conductors as Riccardo Chailly, Bernard Haitink, Valery Gergiev, Mariss Jansons, Zubin Mehta and Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
José Luis Sogorb Jover has performed recitals and solo concerts in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Brazil and Spain, where he also has given masterclasses for young students.
In 2019 he received a descant horn on loan, thanks to the Foundation Concertgebouworkest. He has had his eye on this particular instrument for a long time. It was built by Schneider & Fehr.
