Anneleen Schuitemaker
Anneleen Schuitemaker grew up in the Dutch town of Katwijk aan Zee, where she began taking harp lessons at the age of ten with Anke Bottema at the local music school. She earned a bachelor’s degree in 2014 and a master’s degree in June 2018 from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, studying with Erika Waardenburg, Sandrine Chatron and Petra van der Heide.
Schuitemaker won first prize and the audience prize at the 2011 Rosa Spier Harp Competition and first prize at the 2014 International Harp Competition in Sandstedt, Germany.
Schuitemaker was appointed second harpist with the Concertgebouworkest in August 2020.
She has always had a passion for orchestral playing. As a member of the academy of the Staatskapelle Berlin from 2015 to 2017 and that of the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne from 2017 to 2019, Schuitemaker performed regularly with those orchestras. She has also worked as a substitute with the Berlin Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and the Concertgebouworkest.
She has made solo appearances with a number of orchestras, performing works by Boieldieu, Debussy, Dittersdorf, Handel, Mozart, Reinecke and Rodrigo.
As a chamber musician, Schuitemaker is active as a member of trio42, the only ensemble in the world to combine the violin, saxophone and harp. She has also been a member of the Borealis Trio since 2011, which won second prize at the 2012 Tristan Keuris Chamber Music Competition, and has been associated with the Live Music Now Foundation since 2014.
