Riccardo Minasi

Riccardo Minasi is principal guest conductor of Ensemble Resonanz at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, artistic director of Orchestra La Scintilla at the Zurich Opera House and music director of the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa. The Italian conductor and violinist co-founded the ensemble Il Pomo d’Oro in 2012, serving as its artistic leader until 2015, and from 2017 to 2022 he was chief conductor of the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra.  

In the 2024/25 season, Minasi makes his debut performances with the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse. Recent engagements include a successful debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker as well as concerts with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, Staatskapelle Dresden, Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.   

Past opera performances included Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and Handel’s Rodelinda at the Dutch National Opera, Mozart’s Don Giovanni (Madrid), Così fan tutte (Glyndebourne Festival Opera) and Idomeneo (Genua). Minasi conducted several opera productions at Opernhaus Zürich, Hamburg State Opera and the Opéra National de Lyon.  

Riccardo Minasi has a wealth of recording experience, appearing on four Echo Klassik Award-winning albums in 2016 alone and most recently his Haydn, C.P.E. Bach and Kraft recordings with Ensemble Resonanz were awarded the Diapason d’Or de l’Année.   

His performances are steeped in musicological integrity, and he has acted as historical advisor for the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, as well as editor (alongside Maurizio Biondi) of the 2016 Bärenreiter critical edition of Bellini’s Norma. As soloist and concertmaster, Minasi has performed with the likes of Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Il Giardino Armonico, and Le Concert des Nations.  

Riccardo Minasi’s scheduled Concertgebouworkest debut in October 2020 was cancelled due to covid-19. In the 2024/2025 season he will lead the orchestra for the first time.
