Beethoven: Revolutionary
Interview with Kristian Bezuidenhout
Born in 1979, Kristian Bezuidenhout is a versatile pianist with a fondness for historical instruments. He was born in South Africa, but studied piano in Australia and at the Eastman School of Music in New York. Early on in his studies, he chose to specialise in harpsichord and fortepiano, going on to build up extensive experience as a continuo player in opera productions in Europe and the United States.
At the age of twenty-one, he garnered international recognition by winning both first prize and the audience prize at the Bruges Fortepiano Competition. He has since given recitals, concerts and chamber music performances all over the world. Bezuidenhout is in high demand as a soloist with orchestras and he also gives regular performances as a guest conductor.
