Marijn Mijnders & Henk Rubingh

Marijn Mijnders, first violin

Marijn Mijnders studied with Davina van Wely at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and was awarded the Nicolaï Prize upon completion of her performance degree. She won the Prize of the City of Amsterdam at the 1985 Oskar Back National Violin Competition. Marijn Mijnders served as principal violinist of the North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra from 1985 to 1988.

In 1989, Marijn Mijnders was appointed assistant principal violinist of the Concertgebouworkest. She is also a member of the Uriël Ensemble.

Marijn Mijnders has been playing a beautiful Stradivarius from 1727 since 2015, owned by a private patron, provided to her in loan via Foundation Concertgebouworkest.

Henk Rubingh, principal second violin 

Henk Rubingh had his first violin lessons with Age Koning. He studied with Jeanne Lemkes-Vos at the Groningen Municipal Conservatory, where he graduated with honours in 1978. He continued his studies with Rainer Kussmaul at the Staatliche Musikhochschule in Freiburg.

Rubingh was awarded the Prix d’Excellence in 1981 and was appointed assistant principal violinist with the North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra that same year.

He performs regularly as a soloist, plays chamber music and has collaborated on many CD recordings. As principal violinist of the Amsterdam Bach Soloists, he has performed at many of the world’s major festivals.

Henk Rubingh has been a member of the Concertgebouworkest since September 1984 and has served as principal of the second violin section since 1989. He is a former member of the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra.

Henk Rubingh plays a Guarneri del Gesù from 1729, which was provided on loan to him by a private patron via Concertgebouworkest Foundation.
